Mum’s method of plating up Chinese takeaway for family leaves people divided

When it comes to ordering a Chinese takeaway, it can be difficult to decide what to order.

Duck pancakes, chicken chow mein, egg fried rice, spring rolls and prawn crackers – there are far too many great options available.

On TikTok, one woman showed her method of plating up the food on a communal tray.

Lots of people supported the method – with many viewers saying it was the most efficient way to serve it up.

But others thought it might let the food go colder quicker or didn’t like the idea of the dishes mixing.

The video on TikTok has been shared 782,000 times since it was shared by user @ @mummy_gascoigne.

It has racked up more than 2,000 comments and 34,600 likes since it was uploaded this weekend.

It shows a kitchen tray being filled with steaming containers of food – starting off with chips.

A portion of ribs is then added, followed by stir-fried noodles and a saucy looking chicken curry, egg fried rice and sweet and sour chicken.

Salt and pepper chicken is placed on top before the chicken is drizzled with sauce and some prawn crackers are added, along with a portion of spring rolls.

The plating of the dish has left people divided – with one viewer dubbing it “the best idea.”

Another commented: “Thank you for this brilliant amazing thing you have created.”

A third added: “Straight on the tray, I like it.”

But others weren’t so keen, as one viewer commented: “Never seen a Chinese meal treated with such disrespect.”

Another joked: “I can’t believe you just put sweet and sour sauce on the salt and pepper chicken. I was so invested as well.”

A third replied: “If it’s for several ppl, better to put it on separate plates.

“Imagine the mess when they try to take anything of[sic] that bundle of mess.”
